Background / About

Whenever I'm asked what I do for a living, "I'm a writer" barely seems to cover it. I work in video games, but say that and the usual response is "Oh, you write code." No. I write stories! For games, for television, for graphic novels.

I've spent more than twenty years doing it, most recently as the Narrative Director on Assassin's Creed Shadows. Along the way I've built and led narrative teams, directed voice and cinematics, adapted some of the most recognizable IP in entertainment, and been nominated for a Writers Guild of America Award.

A producer once told me I'm the only writer he'd ever met who didn't like to write. Well, sure — I'm not interested in hitting a word count; I'm interested in evoking an emotional response, and knowing when the right word is no word at all.

I'm a lifelong history nerd. I love sci-fi, fantasy, and gaming, whether it's on a PC or at the tabletop. I once crewed a 75-foot catamaran in the British Virgin Islands. I've traveled across the US and spent time in France and Sweden. I've lived in Ontario and BC, and now call Québec City home, where I've run two marathons and am working toward my third.

Currently developing an original limited series for television.
